Whooo! What a party!
We certainly know how to party… and even better, we most definitely know how to throw a party! A decision has been made, just now… we are officially renaming ourselves to “KoffeePartyCup”! Jokes aside, our goal with this party was to give all our partners that came to London during the week, a place and time to chill out, completely unwind and just casually network. After the extensive days of working closely together during the week, to help improve the platform we love, it was needed – like taking off those uncomfortable shoes after a long day. The laid back tone of the party was apparent and very welcomed – people really felt like themselves and didn’t hold back, and the impromptu karaoke individuals after closing time pretty much proved that (you know who you are). Gee, if there was someone from a music label at the party, some of y’all would get signed on the spot. Not kidding, this is how we felt listening to all of your vocal chords as they fluttered through the stunned silence of the room:
It really hit the spot!
Our main technologist at Koffeecup, the amazing Rob Ford, usually stays late at the office most evenings. And it’s not because he loves us so much, he has rehearsals with his big bands. Yes, not A big band but multiple big bandS! (if they would play all together would they be considered a MEGA BAND? Rob, the MEGA musician.) Anyways… so we had an idea, what if we put one of Rob’s big bands into the really small space we have for the party?! Great idea, we’ll make it work! Rob agreed, his band agreed, we all agreed… and later, you – the party people – agreed with all of your encores.
It was truly amazing, hearing the MOJO Big Band playing right in front of your face, with a boisterous crowd – especially when their singer whipped out the Amy Winehouse performance… Whoo! Still getting goosebumps thinking back to it.
It gave everyone the sudden urge to dance like there’s no tomorrow. At a certain point, there even was a dance circle, with everyone taking turns and itching to show off their party moves – the ones they’ve been practicing in front of a mirror in high school (we’re all guilty of those moments).
Honestly though, we were hoping to see a proper worm dance – disappointing. We challenge you to bust that move out at our next party!
Oh, and don’t get us started about the food. GRAPE and Fig did a spectacular job with the platters. We were grazing like wild animals. The truffle cheese was exceptionally mouth-watering and the cronuts, OH LAWD, those were pure sugar heaven!
All in all, the party was a success. People had fun, talked, overdid it with the cronuts, got drunk, danced, cheered, lip-synced to the music and some sang their lungs out during karaoke – while the venue staff, annoyed, kept signalling that they’re already half an hour closed. “ONE MORE SONG!”, someone yelled for the 5th time. Yep, that’s probably the moment they shut the lights completely off and unplugged the TVs and mic. We were a bit hesitant to make eye contact with them the next day, but all’s good.
Thank you to all who attended and made the evening a memorable one!
PS: Take a look back at the event with a little aftermovie we put together:
