We gave retailers a way to introduce their clients to shiny new - virtual - models that are not yet available in showrooms
the Brief
While normal car retailers have to wait to show their customers brand-new car models that haven’t been released yet, we made it possible for Jaguar Land Rover to do just that by developing a Mixed Reality Application. Partnering with Imagination, we gave retailers a way to introduce their clients to shiny new - virtual - models that are not yet available in showrooms!
This App targets iPads and Android tablets using a purpose built private deployment system to distribute it to over 85 supported markets and it is fully localised, allowing each market to tailor the content to their specific needs from our own content management system.
Mechanics
The App has three main sections and is led by a Jaguar Representative, who is equipped with an iPad that, through the App, monitors what the customer can see, so the experience can be tailored to specific interests and needs. The customer is handed a headset to see the virtual car.
The Augmented Reality section is where the customer can see the real scale of the car, walk around it and compare it to the other cars on display. Through a physical marker (a box) the appearance of a 3D model of the car is triggered and within the headset, the car is made visible in the showroom.
Two Virtual Reality Sections enable customers to view the car’s specific features, inside and out, taking them on a high-res tour with amazing animations, within a pre-rendered environment. The car amazes the viewers, by disassembling in front of them, showcasing the intricate mechanics - from the engine to the aluminium body and the interior features of the car.
