An interactive experience for the launch of Adidas Predator Ground Boots, the boot has silicon spikes on the top to improve curvature of the ball when kicked

Brief

To celebrate the launch of the Adidas Predator Boot, Koffeecup was commissioned by The Marketing Store (TMS) to deliver the Predator Hyperbox Experience. This was installed at the Adidas store on Oxford Street in London from Tuesday 21st January 2020. The experience ties in with marketing activity surrounding the release of the new boot which has silicon spikes on the top to significantly improve the curvature of the ball when kicked. The goal of the experience was to allow visitors of the retailer shop to feel the Demonskin.

Our Approach

The experience is a combination of software and fabricated hardware to create a unique interactive experience for users. The Hyperbox houses the Predator Boot and users are able to put their hands through slots where they’ll be able to touch the boot which is fixed within the box. Users can see ‘inside’ the box via an LED screen which is placed on top of the Hyperbox; this shows a virtual representation of users’ hands interacting with the boot, the Demonskin.

How Did we do it

Inside the box is a leap motion which enables us to track the hands of the user so we know when they are interacting with the boot; this means that when they touch the boot, they’re able to see their hands mutate into something monstrous! The longer the user interacts with the boot, the more the mutation spreads until the hands are completely consumed with a demon-like skin, and when the user stops touching the boot, the mutation fades away.
