Game Economy Designer

Job Description

  • Work closely with Creative Leads and Game Designers and to match desired player behaviour, systems, and creative game design for maximum effect

  • Design and map out game progression from a systems and monetisation perspective

  • Take full ownership of game monetisation, manage pricing of virtual goods, balance game systems, and balance incentivized and purchased items in the game economy context

  • Provide clear system and economy documentation, diagrams, calculation models, analyses, wireframes, and/or prototypes

  • Manage pricing of virtual products to create specific price point roles, and implement selling strategies for various price points

  • Translate analytical findings into actionable recommendations within the game 

  • Work closely with User Experience (UX) and User Interface (UI) Designers to optimize the player interface

  • Work Closely with the Game Designers to constantly support the game dynamics.

  • Identify the potential sale drivers for the different product categories in the game economy, and define the key points of exposure for those drivers

  • Work collaboratively with creatives, developers, and managers

  • Work on projects of varying length and complexity

  • Support developers during implementation

 

Must HAve

  • Strong portfolio to be presented and defended during interview

  • Two or more years of experience

  • Highly analytical, skilled at building models and tools to simulate and analyze the game economy and player behavior

  • Very good econometrics skills, able to model problems into quantitative systems, and draw qualitative conclusions out of quantitative data.

  • Statistical knowledge, able to formulate ratios and indexes specific to each game, identifying specific weaknesses and strengths in its economy design

  • High ability to understand player motivations and merge them with business needs

  • Excellent ability to analyse, synthesise and document concepts

  • Experience in game design from concept to live

  • Creative ideas with advanced problem-solving skills

  • Passion for video games with solid understanding of games

  • Continued education and curiosity for game trends, current design strategy and technology

  • Excellent ability to manage timelines and be self-directed

  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal

  • Comfortable with taking feedback and use it to improve your work

 

Nice to HAVe

  • Experience with AR/VR Immersive technologies

  • Cross-platform development experience
